.001 - Barlow and Whalen

Both John Perry Barlow's "A Declaration of the Independence of Cyberspace" and John Whalen's "The Mayhem is the Message" exemplify the views of freedom on the internet.

Barlow speaks in a stream of conciousness declaring his views on the freedom that the internet deserves regardless of the government's desire to regulate it. Barlow believes strongly in free speech and the right for people to agree to disagree rather than censoring one viewpoint.

Whalen speaks in a more agressive manner as he defeneds "culture jammers" in their witty attacks on advertisements and the media. The "attacks" are very one-sided and very humorous when taken as pranks only with no intention to seriously hurt.
